We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us produce robust, clear and polished code using best practices to scale and expand our sports offerings. Our ideal candidate likes to tinker, isn’t afraid to try new things and make mistakes but always learns from them. You have familiarity or love of one or more professional sports.

This is a remote position. We get together for company retreats a few times a year.
If candidate is based in Houston, TX, that would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of an Agile team to design and develop and test our sports technology stack (APIs, database integration, and new features)
  • Help develop and take ownership of the different pieces of our architecture
  • Create, design and run tests to improve any subsystem or the platform as a whole
  • Help guide and enforce best practices for software development
  • Develop new solutions to resolve issues with the platform
  • Lead code reviews with other engineers
  • Regularly assist level I and level II programmers with task-related and troubleshooting problems
  • Must participate in a Daily Stand-up at 9:00 am Central, Monday - Friday
  • Available as needed for meetings between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Central time

Qualifications and Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Systems from an accredited university required
  • Minimum 3 years experience in software engineering required
  • Demonstrable coding talent in Python, including machine learning packages such as sklearn and pytorch required
  • Experience with database design and optimization required
  • Ability to create and manage REST and GraphQL APIs required
  • Understanding of distributed computing required
  • Utilize best practices for cloud environments (AWS) required
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux CLI and AWS CLI required
  • Experience with CI/CD environments and practices required. Gitlab experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently most of the time required
  • Strong time mangement skills required
  • Ability to be responsive to email and slack messages required
  • Work well with other team members to accomplish a goal
  • Possess a “can do” attitude and out of the box thinking
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Desired:

  • Experience with Redis is highly preferred
  • Exposure to Tensorflow and other ML frameworks desired
  • Experience with Ruby (Rails) and popular “Active” gems desired
  • Experience with React Native for some light front end work desired
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence desired
  • Looks for innovative ways of doing things
  • Experience working remote effectively highly preferred
  • Experience with Google workspace desired
